Beaconsoft, a member of our Scale-Up Programme, is generously offering other members of the programme the opportunity to access its Veracity software for a free trial period of two months. After founding two companies with SETsquared support, Nigel Bridges, Founder of Beaconsoft, wants to be able to invest back into the community.

Veracity provides the ability to detect and defend against sophisticated bot attacks on web applications, mobile apps, and APIs.

According to Mastercard, more than half of all cyberattacks are committed against small-to-midsized businesses (SMBs), and 66% of SMBs had at least one cyber incident in the past two years.

Allowing bad bots to access systems can be very expensive for organisations in several ways, including:

• loss of revenue associated with website downtime and/or performance degradation
• increased operational expenses, including infrastructure costs, authentication expenses, and the people cost of the time spent on bot mitigation
• regulatory penalties such as the huge fines imposed on organisations for breaches of, for example, GDPR or AML regulations
• the intangible (and sometimes tangible) damage to brand reputation resulting from negative publicity and loss of customer confidence

Meet the speakers

Nigel Bridges, CEO

Nigel is an executive and entrepreneur with over 25 years senior leadership experience.  His career has included significant UK and international experience in managerial and executive roles including Divisional Director, Managing Director, COO and CEO for larger corporates and smaller SME’s.

After graduating from City University Business School (now Bayes Business School) with a first class honours degree Nigel started his career in management consulting and business development in the UK and Hong Kong; before moving into general line management.  His corporate career saw him managing ever larger business unit across the UK and Europe including a number of turnarounds.

Following a career in leadership in the technology sector in ‘C’ level roles in both the UK and internationally, Nigel co-founded Beacon (a SaaS product company delivering step-change improvements in online advertising) and Veracity (delivering bot protection solutions to FS, Insurance, eCommerce and Government sectors).

As well as CEO of Beacon he also holds a number of business interests including non-executive directorships, board advisory positions and charity trusteeships.

 

Mike Townend, CMO

Mike’s focus is on the strategic marketing and business development aspects of technology-focused businesses.

He has held senior management roles with software and professional services organisations globally, with the common themes of industry marketing strategy, proposition building, and developing and managing networks of business partners.

Although based in Berkshire, Mike remains a long-standing fan of his home football club, Leicester City. He is also a keen golfer and has been a marshal at the PGA Championship at Wentworth for the last eight years. Mike is proud to be an Ambassador for two national charities: the UK Police Memorial and The Children’s Air Ambulance.
