Bath SETsquared member, EZ Education a children’s educational app developer, has secured the opportunity of a lifetime thanks to KPMG and UK Trade and Investment (UKTI). 

EZ Education successfully pitched their business to a team of panellists in Reading on Thursday 14 January against eight other businesses in the South leg of KPMG Presents: The Best British Mobile Startup 2016. 

EZ Education founders Nicola Chilman and Tom Minor, both former teachers, are now preparing to go to Barcelona in February to showcase at 4YFN (4 Years From Now) at Mobile World Congress 2016. 

Barry Carter, KPMG’s Head of Tech for the South, was on the panel of judges at the pitching event. He said: “We were really impressed by EZ Education’s innovation and the traction they have already developed. They have fantastic potential to expand into other markets, such as China.”

Nicola Chilman, co-founder of EZ Education, said: We’re passionate about raising standards in maths and are delighted we have this opportunity to share our vision for personalised learning at such a prestigious event.

Mobile World Congress is the largest annual gathering for the mobile industry, organised by the GSMA, and held in the Mobile World Capital of Barcelona. Last year the event attracted over 94,000 attendees, thousands of which were C level leaders of their businesses.  

Featuring 140 guest speakers and more than 3,500 press and industry analysts, the event is the place to be for anyone operating in the mobile industry. This year CEO guest speakers from PayPal, UNICEF and Hointer have already been confirmed. It will take place on 22‎-25 February 2016.  

Also on the panel at the event was Mike Jackson of WebStart Bristol, and Jason Khaksar of The Carlyle Group. The event was hosted by ConnectTVT at their incubator GROW@GreenPark in Reading and organised by Tom Fox, part of the High Growth Tech Group at KPMG’s Reading office.

Startups from the North and London will be pitching in separate events over January.
