WORLD LEADING BUSINESS SUPPORT
Brand new Bath SETsquared member Ordable, who joined the centre in August, has been quick off the mark in securing funding. They have recently announced investment from angel investor Nick Robinson (Vice Chairman and co-founder of Worldfirst).
Ordable has developed an app that enables consumers to order and pay in advance at cafes and coffee shops– beating the queue and earning loyalty rewards.
Created by a team of three recent University of Bath graduates, the venture received support from the student enterprise team at Bath. They secured seed funding through a Dragon’s Den event, participated in business plan and app crunch competitions, alongside SETsquared’s 2015 student enterprise showcase, all of which helped in establishing the current business proposition.
The app was initially launched in April at the Engine Shed in Bristol, which enabled the venture to get some detailed feedback on the service and use this to shape the technology development. It is now starting to gain traction with food and coffee outlets in Bath and Bristol.
Tom Dewhurst, co-founder of Ordable says: “Our mantra has always been: Build, Measure, Learn. Based on detailed feedback, market research and analysing our competition — we are now targeting cafes and coffee shops with our order-ahead, payment and digital loyalty card functionality. This new approach enables these outlets to dramatically increase sales, streamline operations and reward loyal customers.”
