WORLD LEADING BUSINESS SUPPORT
Increasing health & social care spin-out activity
Market discovery training for researchers & clinicians
Identifying regional collaboration opportunities
Through sharing best practice, training and development, the programme will provide the knowledge and skills necessary for universities, which are traditionally less research-intensive and the NHS to embed new ways of working and a culture which supports spin-out activity.
From across the partners, it will identify the innovations with the most potential to transform health and social care and support them through commercialisation.
This pilot aims to create sustainable regional research commercialisation capacity in health and social care with the potential to expand into other key regional sectors.
Innovation Review and Expert Panels will provide a rapid and multi-disciplinary review of potential health and social care impact opportunities and identify synergies across partners and regions for potential collaborations.
They will provide a framework to develop and permanently increase research commercialisation capacity across each partner by providing underlying processes, templates and toolkits.
This will include building a business model canvas, undertaking market/competitor analysis and product-market-fit.
This will pilot the development of an ongoing regional programme and provide and embed key toolkits for less-research-intensive higher education partners and the NHS to streamline pre-pipeline processes and support and upskill time-constrained researchers to gather underpinning evidence.
The programme is open to SpinOutWest partner institutions (shown below), including:
• Early career researchers
• Academics
• Clinicians/NHS staff
It’s not limited to STEM-based innovations. It’s also relevant to social sciences, humanities and arts for people and the economy (SHAPE) based solutions for health and social care.
