About the Workout

Following the first very successful cohort of this programme in 2023 (shown below), this fast-paced, dynamic and fully-funded Entrepreneurs Workout for female founders of technology, digital or science-based businesses is once again open for applications.

Built on Strategyzer’s Business Model Canvas, you’ll deep dive into your business model, value proposition, customer segmentation, channels for winning customers, and revenue model, helping you to build a strong foundation for a profitable and successful business. It’s designed to be very practical and hands-on, and you’ll be putting theory into practice on your own business/idea as well as other established business models.

The programme culminates in the opportunity to pitch your business model to a panel of experts and also speed mentoring, which will provide lots of valuable, objective feedback on your business or proposal.

More about the Workout

The Entrepreneurs Workout is a supportive and inclusive business training programme, which is fully funded by the University of Southampton Science Park, to help women take their business or idea to the next stage. It aims to bring together enterprising women to engage, inspire and develop ideas.

In 2022, women in the UK established over 150,000 new companies – which is more than twice as many as in 2018.* Whilst we’ve always recognised the entrepreneurial talent of women, it’s great to see this positive upward trend, and this programme aims to support this growing number of women founders to thrive.

Taking part in the Entrepreneurs Workout could lead to access to further funded support through the highly acclaimed Catalyst Programme, which is also run at Southampton Science Park. As well as the practical business support, which you’ll get in abundance on this programme, it’s also an opportunity to connect with and build a community of ambitious female founders in the region.

Who should apply?

You must identify as a woman or non-binary assigned female at birth and live and work in the UK. You need to have big ambitions for business growth or impact and be ready and open to receive support and advice.

You can apply if you have an idea that could become a business, are a sole trader, or run an early-stage business, not-for-profit or social venture. There must be a technology, digital, or science element to your venture addressing any sector.

The programme is not suitable for founders of consultancy businesses.

We particularly encourage applications from women with diverse backgrounds, including women from ethnic minority backgrounds, LGBTQIA+, and women with disabilities.

“Absolutely brilliant. Loved being able to learn about the business model canvas, and the networking has been priceless.”

“I felt more inclined to apply because it was an all-female programme. It felt like a safe space to share.”

“Being an all-female programme didn’t make me more inclined to apply but it was the most positive outcome. We had a shared understanding of balancing work, business and life.”
