Q. Who runs the SETsquared Scale-Up Programme?

A. The SETsquared Scale-Up Programme is a programme run by SETsquared – a partnership between the University of Bath, Bristol, Exeter, Southampton and Surrey. The Scale-Up Programme is a collaboration of these five institutions in partnership with Cardiff University.

Q) What do members of the Scale-Up Programme get?

Q) What are the funding opportunities that the Scale-Up Programme offers?

A) The Scale-Up Programme runs campaigns around upcoming funding calls aligned with the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF). We focus our expertise on supporting consortia to submit bids and secure funding; the consortia will include at least one company and at least one researcher from one of our six partner Universities.

Q) Is there a cost associated with membership to the SETsquared Scale-Up Programme?

A) The Scale-Up Programme offers two types of membership, associate and full.

Under the associate membership tier, the company will be able to enjoy the following:

  • Access to our Scale-Up member network
  • Invites to exclusive events
  • Peer to peer mentoring and support

Under the full membership tier, companies will be able to enjoy all of the above and the following:

  • Bespoke R&D support and mentoring to submission stage and beyond
  • Opportunity to access proposal development funding.
  • Access to the Investment Programme and support

Full membership to the SETsquared Scale-Up Programme has an associated cost; the fee is valid for 12-months of £1,600 ex VAT. If the company is eligible for full membership, the fee can be waivered using De Minimis.

Q) How do I know if I’m eligible for De Minimis?

A) If you have received less than €200,000 of state aid in the last three years you will be eligible to make a De Minimis declaration and have your membership waived.

Q) How do I apply for associate membership of the Scale-Up Programme?

A) You can apply for associate membership by completing the application form on the Scale-Up landing page

Q) How do I apply for full membership to the Scale-Up Programme?

A) Full membership is offered on an invite only basis. Our sector leads will meet with your company and after discussion will offer this tier of membership to companies who are in a position to and could benefit from the programme’s support in accessing public and/or private investment.

A) The SETsquared Scale-Up Programme is perfect for companies which have an appetite for collaborative R&D, are driving for growth through innovation and is a tech based company in one of the following sectors:

  • Advanced Engineering & Manufacturing
