Speaking at education summit and exhibiting at innovation conference
SETsquared will be participating in two high profile government-organised events during the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, helping to showcase the innovation and entrepreneurship of its five partner universities.
At the Global Business Summit on Education organised by UK Trade & Investment (UKTI), Graham Harrison, Partnership Director at SETsquared, will be speaking as part of a panel in the session: “Fuelling the Knowledge Economies; UK HE International Activities”. The summit, part of the British Business Embassy, is to be held at Lancaster House, London on Wednesday 1st August, and will provide a forum for industry, government and academia to debate the key issues in industry and education sector engagement.
David Willetts, Minister of State for Universities & Science, and Lord Stephen Green, Minister of State for Trade & Investment will also be attending the Global Business Summit on Education at Lancaster House. The Global Business Summit on Education is part of UKTI’s British Business Embassy which is a programme of conferences, events and networking opportunities for British and international businesses.
Separately, two SETsquared-supported companies, Attomarker and SEaB Energy, will be exhibiting at the US-UK Financing Innovation Conference on July 31st in London, which is organised by the Department for Business Innovation and Skills.
The conference aims to highlight the talent of British companies, and encourage financial backers to get behind these innovative small and medium sized firms. It will also bring investors together so that UK fund managers can learn from their US counterparts.
“SETsquared’s participation in these two events is recognition of the Partnership’s role in the innovation and enterprise agenda and its contribution to economic development in the UK” said Graham Harrison, Partnership Director at SETsquared.
Attomarker is a spin out company from the University of Exeter, which has developed a new technology to monitor concentrations of biomarkers in the blood. This helps improve diagnosis for complex conditions such as allergy or irritable bowel syndrome.
Based at the University of Southampton Science Park, SEaB Energy supplies a compact easy to install turnkey anaerobic digestion solution in a shipping container, generating energy and organic fertiliser for sites producing between 200 and 1000 tonnes of food and bio waste per year. The system is known as MUCKBUSTER® in the agricultural sector, and SEaB MB400 in the food processing, on-site catering and accommodation sectors.
